50x15 Deployments Roll On; Help Schools in Three Different Continents
5/12/2008

2007 was a year of growth and diversification for 50x15 Learning Labs. We deployed in more regions, addressed more vertical markets, and empowered more people. A novel e-health project took place in rural South Africa. Then, we worked with a very prolific non-governmental organization to launch two education labs in India. Finally, an attempt to empower small businesses in the favelas of São Paulo brought together the community and key private sector players in our Heliopolis deployment.

2008 promises to be a year of continued fulfillment and replication as we capitalize on the progress we have made and drill down into the segments in which we have made imprints. We’ll be following up on the progress made in South Africa with replications of the Mpilonhle Mobile and Nedbank 50x15 Learning Labs. Furthermore, the 50x15 Team aims to start delivering on the commitment to leverage technology to help provide a sustainable rural health care system to the country of Rwanda.

In Asia, we will seek to expand our relationships with 50x15 partners like the American India Foundation and build new relationships. Potential areas for projects include Pakistan and Bangladesh. Finally, keep your eyes open for a very exciting learning lab being developed in Latin America that is designed to combine digital inclusion with agriculture to truly empower communities in some of the most remote regions of Mexico.
